Snow Day

After years of saying we were going to the snow and not doing it, we finally did it! Apparently we should have said we were going a few more times and not went; it was sort of a nightmare. The kids are still too young, I guess. Really. Too young for snow! I didn't know it was possible.

Anyhow, Bret planned it all out for my birthday. We headed to Flagstaff Monday and stayed the night in a hotel. Instead of going to one of the snow play areas (we figured they'd be too crowded), we decided to find our own place to tube. We found a hill that we hiked back into through about 3 feet of snow in some areas. We told Aiden to follow in our footsteps, but you know him! He had to blaze his own trails and kept getting stuck. The boys just had jeans on , so you can imagine what they looked like when we finally got up the hill...oh wait, you don't have to imagine, I have pictures!

Grayson was pretty much crying from the start and then Aiden started in. Bret and I laughed because Aiden tends to be overly dramatic and it wasn't a particularly cold day. We made it down the hill about 5 times total and that was it.

We thought building a snowman would make Aiden want to stay, but it didn't. Bret and I ended up doing the snowman by ourselves. We made it fast and then headed back down the mountain.

Oh well! Back to the hotel for a nice warm soak in the tub! Aaaaah...

As it turns out the snow play areas were turning away cars by the hundreds because they were so full. So we would have ended up doing the same thing...we just cut out the middle man.

That's hilarious! Cute pictures too. Now I know we won't try going to the snow for a few more years.

Sometimes I think I'm too young for the snow too...which is kinda why we still live in AZ. My kids have a love/hate relationship with snow. They love it...until they get cold, then they hate it and we have to leave NOW! I'm sure it'll be a funny memory for you. Great snowman though!

I could have warned you ahead of time, but you kind of have to experience it at least once. If I had know you didn't have snow pants for the kids I would have hooked you up! We took the kids last year and they all loved it because they were warm, ECXEPT for Lauren. Nothing we could do would make her happy so we left her in the car. Happy belated Birthday and hats off to Bret for making such a nice effort!

I am proud of you for making memories. I hate it when things go far worse then we anticipate when we try for fun memories. So give yourself a Klondike bar for doing it. I love how Mabel is totally checking out the snowman.
